Cay was born at Fort Bliss, TX to a military family, which lived in many U.S. states and in Europe. She began her martial arts studies at Carson Hurley's Karate in Roanoke, VA in 1979, seeking increased self-confidence. She moved to Illinois and trained in Kung Fu with a focus on the internal arts and chi gung under the direction of Dr. Keychun Song from 1984-1990. Finding the gentle exercises delightful, as they helped her find physical balance and peacefulness, she enjoys sharing them. Dr Song’s Kung fu Academy certified her to teach, which she has done in NJ, IL, PA, & FL. She furthered her studies under Dr. Chen in Philadelphia and Larry Day, PhD. in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
Open Arms Tai Chi is the name chosen for her classes as it depicts the welcoming nature and grounding energy of the arts. Students of all ages and abilities can enjoy the gentle flowing exercises, which calm the mind and spirit for increased mindfulness.
